Aaaargh!
Vanaf het moment wij in onze gemeente ook aan strikte afvalscheiding moesten gaan doen bleek onze oude keuken daar niet echt op ingericht. Wij hadden, net als honderdduizenden andere huishoudens denk ik, gewoon maar 1 prullenbak. Omdat ik toch wel enigszins begaan ben met het milieu scheidde ik al wel papier en glas. Maar eerlijk toegegeven; onze GFT kliko bleef meestal leeg (op een bosje uitgebloeide bloemen en wat tuinafval na). En de “ gewone” grijze kliko, waar de vuilniszakken in gingen puilde al een dag nadat ie geleegd was uit.
Een paar maanden geleden kregen alle inwoners van WbD er nog een kliko bij.
{Cynische modus aan} Hoera, wat fijn! Nog zo’n sfeerverhogend object in de achtertuin! {Cynische modus uit}
Het laatste exemplaar is bedoeld voor plastic verpakkingen. Dus in onze achtertuin staan nu 3 kliko’s. Onze achtertuin is 8 meter lang dus is het geen optie om met elk theezakje, kliekje of stukje plastic naar buiten te lopen. Zoals ik al zei, in onze oude keuken gaf het scheiden van afval vooral irritatie. Geen ruimte voor meerdere prullenbakken en geen keukenkastjes over om daar eventueel bakken in te zetten. Dus in de praktijk stond er altijd een stinkend emaille bakje met voedselresten op het aanrecht, puilde de prullenbak uit, hing er altijd een plastic zakje aan de verwarming met restafval, stonden er op de grond glazen flessen en potjes en lag er altijd een stapel oud papier op de keukentafel (of erger: op een stoel).
Dus toen wij onze keuken gingen pimpen maakten we meteen een Afval-plan.
Nu we de nieuwe keuken een paar weken in gebruik hebben lijkt ons afvalfabriekje steeds soepeler te gaan draaien. De keuken is opgeruimder. De verschillende nieuwe (hippe!) afvalbakken lijken minder snel vol te zitten. En de gang naar de tuin is gereduceerd tot 1x in de 2 a 3 dagen in plaats van 5x per dag.
So far so good!
Alleen “Stiptheid” is niet 1 van mijn beste skills, zeg maar. Dus met 3 kliko’s, waarvan er eentje om de 3 of 4 weken wordt geleegd en een ander weer om de 2 weken en dan ook nog het oud papier dat op elke dinsdag wordt opgehaald, in de week dat ook de GFT kliko aan de beurt is, werd het me wat te ingewikkeld. Ik had werkelijk geen idee welke kliko er nu weer op donderdagavond aan de weg moest staan. Vaak keek ik dan ‘ s avonds maar even uit het raam om te kijken of er straatgenoten waren die die kennis wel bezaten. Maar daar ben ik ook al eens de mist mee in gegaan. Dat was net zo’n gevoel als vroeger met afkijken bij degene die naast je op school zat en dan toch nog een onvoldoende hebben omdat die ander het ook niet geleerd bleek te hebben.
Nee, voortaan gebruik ik de Afvalwijzer (te downloaden in de App store).
Superhandig, want nu krijg ik de dag ervoor een berichtje op mijn telefoon.
Soms zie ik een buurvrouw stiekem door de lamellen naar buiten kijken als ik, heel georganiseerd, de juiste kliko naar de stoeprand rol 😉
